Good Bye from Bled

I like hearing about what you have been doing. I am going to be at school on Monday. The time went quickly here too. I will miss the chocolates that I have been given by the ladies that do the cleaning. In NZ it is easy to know what you are saying but in Slovenia it is very very hard. They write New Zealand Nova Zelandija.
Good bye Kowhai from Slovenia. We are going to drive to Austria and Germany today. We have one day there and then we fly home. We leave on Thursday and we will be home on Saturday. We have a long wait for 6 hours in Singapore.
This is what it is like walking in Slovenia. I love it here because it is awesome. The best thing is getting to go on the coach boats and because we walk to the villages a lot and we have seen heaps of villages. The hanging up off the roof is corn to feed the cows when they get back from being the high forest for the summer. The castles were awesome. You don't need a watch because all the churches have clocks that chime at the same time.
You should come here every year.
See you soon.

Kowhai Class

Yesterday Lara did some ballroom dancing for us. We saw her do the Chacha and the Rumba and her Mum and partner showed us the waltz.
Today Georgia, Oliver and James started the weaving for their fish.
We got some new books in our classroom library. Some of them are really cool.
Last week Piwakwaka won the house points.
We are really excited about having you back at school next week.
We made some stars for screen printing.
George came to school to tell us about Matariki. He taught us the song about Matariki.
In the olden days the Maori had no pen and paper to write things down so they made up songs.

Tuesday 15 June

We are tired of the rain!! Just as well you've had a month of great weather because it's not too good here!!

Today we start our music swap.

Rata class have had a student with them for two weeks but she has left now.

We did some more talking for you Archie so you can find out what we have been doing. Mrs Kells is having problems loading the files as they have made changes to the site we were using but hopefully it might work later.

Yesterday Phillipa, Carys and Stephanie got Stars of the Week.

The caves that you went to looked really neat. We liked all that you wrote about recycling and picking up the rubbish. We think your idea is a really good one.

It sounds as though you will be home soon, the time seems to have gone really quickly.

The Trip to the Caves

Hi JJ, Olives, Mrs Kells, Mrs Hall and Kowhai Class,

It was freezing cold like ice in the caves. It was 12 degrees. Is that how cold it is in NZ? It is hot as you are in an oven here.

We don't have many photos because you weren't allowed to take them in many places because it would scare the bugs living in the cave. There are all different kinds of insects and spiders. They were minature, so tiny they you couldn't see them. We saw a fish that looked very very old. It was called a human fish. The lights went out by mistake. It was very very freeky. It was really dark. We didn't see any bats because it wasn't that kind of cave. We went took a tour bus and it took us to our destination. We went to the caves and to a castle in the cliffs. We had to listen to the guide and do what the guide said.

Recycling Day

Hi School,
They do really a lot of recycling here. You see the green bins nearly on each corner in every town. They are in rows of four. Some are glass, some are plastic, some are paper and some are metal. The shiny one was in the airport in Germany. They one that is wood is in Bled by the lake. It is for paper and plastic. There is only a little bit of rubbish lying around every day. One day in Slovenia everyone picked up all the rubbish all day. Can we do it at school one day making the picking up rubbish & taking the weeds out of the bush area when I am back? Why don't we make it happen in New Zealand so New Zealand looks tidy & people will visit us more.
They are looking after their fish by weighing them and putting on tags. We have seen thousands of fish in the lake and in the rivers too. We have seen lots of fisherman dressed in army clothes they sit by the lake and stay there overnight. They have trees and green shelters. They hardly ever eat the fish.
Libby's jandals were recycled from rubber in Brazil. We bought them here in Bled & Libby likes wearing them.

Hello Kowhai

I liked your Easi-Speak. I could tell who some of your voices were. Who said hello, hello, hello on the 6th one? The gymnastics looked pretty cool to me. Could you do your Maori action song on Easi-Speak? What have you been playing in the playground at lunch time? I was doing my work on the computer in the photo. We went to the castle that you see out the window.

Boats on Water

I have seen heaps of boats on the lake. The white boat with black stripes gets pulled out of the water and they let the air out of it. I am in the big picture in the boat with the air in it. The man in the blue boat is fishing. I have seen heaps of swan boats. You can take them out where ever you want to. They are not very stable. It is 12 Euro for a hour. So in NZ dollars it is 24. You have to use some oars. Most people take them to the church on the island in the summer. The boats with the roofs they have a sign on the back of the boat to tell you where it goes. The man on the back paddles it. If he takes a step back he will fall into the water. He stands up when he is paddling.

From in the hotel 3 stories from the ground you can see the boats but you can't tell if the water is wavy or not.
